Mid-summer

It's summer, and I'm feeling sort of unproductive in the hot weather. We had fun last weekend when Isaac, Bridget, and Paul visited, but I only took one photo, and it wasn't very good -- fortunately, Uncle Steve got some great shots at the playground.

We've started going to the annual raptor ID classes that lead up to the beginning of Hawk Watch season in August, and this week we start a class about diet and nutrition for diabetes.

Here are a couple of recent photos:

Our garden, taken today:

So far we've had peas, beans, zucchini, lettuce, and various herbs from it. Soon we'll have tomatoes and carrots. Later it looks like we'll have some tomatillos and maybe eggplant. The other squash varieties (one winter, one summer) and the peppers haven't done too well; not sure if we'll see any of those.

Here, kitty kitty

This is what I saw running up the driveway when I got home the other night. As I walked up the back stairs, I saw it scurry over to the corner of the deck. We sure have some ugly cats in this neighborhood!

July 3 Fireworks (and more)

July 3 photos.

Here's some photos from July 3 and the festivities at our house for the annual Sebastopol fireworks.

Also, Uncle Steve has some photos posted of July 3, our visit to the blueberry farm, and hike at Point Reyes. And he posted his whole series of Charlie Browns that have appeared around Santa Rosa. There are 55 Charlie Brown statues decorated in various ways throughout the city because this is the 55th anniversary of "Peanuts," the comic by Charles M. Schulz, who was a Santa Rosa resident for much of his life.
